One of the most natural ways to exfoliate skin, no harsh chemicals required, revealing firmer, more youthful-looking skin underneath.
Microdermabrasion uses very fine microcrystals or a diamond tip to gently remove the upper layer of skin, exfoliating dead skin cells and helping speed up your skin’s natural turnover rate. The result is smoother, more youthful-looking skin. While it’s most often used on the face, microdermabrasion can also be performed on the chest or back.
Microdermabrasion with Crystals: Sodium bicarbonate crystals are combined with a vacuum to suction up dead skin, ablating the skin’s surface through a combination of heat and friction.
Microdermabrasion with a Diamond Tip Wand: A more popular option. Fine diamonds on the wand’s tip scrape across small sections of skin to remove dead, damaged tissue, followed by a vacuum tool that suctions away the debris.
Healthy patients concerned with early signs of aging, light lines and wrinkles, uneven texture, sun-damaged skin, or acne are typically good candidates. Microdermabrasion may not be the right choice for deep scars, wrinkles, birthmarks, or tattoos (a chemical peel or light/laser treatment tends to work better for those). It’s also not recommended for patients with rosacea (which makes skin especially sensitive to exfoliation), active skin infections or irritation, those on Accutane without doctor approval, pregnant patients, or anyone who’s recently had a sensitizing procedure like filler, BOTOX®, or laser treatment.

We’ll evaluate your skin concerns and confirm microdermabrasion, versus a chemical peel or laser option, is the right fit.
2
A quick, roughly 30-minute session using crystal or diamond-tip technology, no numbing cream required.
3
Skin feels immediately smoother, with any flaking resolving within about a week.
No special preparation is needed, and no numbing cream is required since the treatment only affects the top layers of skin.
Fine crystals or a diamond-tip wand gently exfoliate your skin’s surface, followed by suction to remove the debris. The procedure is pain-free.
You can apply makeup and resume your normal activities right away. Use a cold compress, anti-inflammatory cream, gentle cleanser, and hydrating serum to support your results. Avoid exfoliating products, acne treatments, and harsh ingredients like benzoyl peroxide, AHAs, BHAs, or retinol for a day or two. Avoid rubbing, scratching, or picking at any flaking skin. Apply sunblock immediately afterward, and avoid sun exposure for at least a week.

Microdermabrasion is pain-free and very safe, since it doesn’t use chemicals or laser resurfacing and only treats the top layers of the epidermis. It doesn’t require numbing cream.
There’s no real downtime. You can go about your daily activities and apply makeup right after treatment. Some dry, flaky peeling can occur within a week, which resolves with regular moisturizer use.
It takes about half an hour, with additional time needed if you’re treating more than one area.
Yes, it’s also a great option for the hands, neck, and décolleté.
At-home devices offer a cheaper alternative but lack the suction power of professional equipment. If you’re looking to meaningfully improve skin discoloration, sun damage, age spots, or acne, an at-home device won’t deliver the same results as an in-office treatment.
