What Is Avéli?
Cellulite isn’t a fat problem, it’s a structural one. Tight, fibrous bands of connective tissue called septa tether the skin to the deeper layers beneath it. As fat pushes up between those bands, it creates the dimpled appearance most people recognize as cellulite, and no amount of clean eating, exercise, or topical cream can cut the fibrous bands responsible for the puckering.
Avéli is an FDA-cleared medical device designed to release those bands. It’s typically a one-time, in-office treatment lasting about an hour, delivering visible, long-lasting results after a single session.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Avéli?
A good candidate is an adult with visible dimples on the thighs, hips, or buttocks that persist at rest, not only when flexing. Ideal candidates maintain a stable body weight, have minimal skin laxity, and are in good overall health. Avéli treats dimple-type cellulite specifically. It is not a treatment for skin laxity or fat-reduction procedure. It is not recommended for patients with significant loose skin.

How Avéli Works
Avéli uses a light-guided handheld device, inserted under the skin through a small incision, to target cellulite at its root through a three-step process:
- Identify each fibrous band causing a visible dimple, using transillumination and tactile feedback.
- Release the band with a retractable blade, no heat, lasers, or radiofrequency involved.
- Verify that the band has been fully released in real time.
The built-in verification step is what sets Avéli apart. Your provider can see and feel the dimple release during the procedure. Because Avéli physically severs the band causing each dimple, it addresses the root cause rather than temporarily masking it, allowing skin to lift into a smoother, more even contour.

Before Your Treatment
Your provider reviews your medical history and confirms candidacy at your consultation. Avéli isn’t recommended for patients with uncontrolled medical conditions, active infection in the treatment area, or pregnancy.
During Your Treatment
Your provider uses a local anesthetic to numb the treatment area, then identifies, releases, and verifies each fibrous band using the Avéli device. The full session takes about an hour.
After Your Treatment
Bruising and swelling are normal in the first few days, with mild discomfort that typically resolves quickly. You’ll wear a compression garment for at least the first week, during which tenderness gradually subsides. Most patients resume normal activities, including light exercise, within a few days.
Initial results are visible immediately after treatment. Final results appear within about 30 days as swelling resolves and skin looks progressively smoother and firmer. Because the fibrous bands don’t re-form once released, treated dimples stay smooth long-term. New cellulite can still develop over time, but the areas already treated maintain their results. Expect no visible scarring, just tiny entry points that heal quickly. Your provider will schedule follow-up appointments to monitor healing and confirm your progress.
How Avéli Compares to Other Cellulite Treatments
Topical creams and massage offer only temporary, surface-level improvement, lasting hours to weeks at best, since they can’t reach the fibrous bands causing the dimpling.
