Botox can be used to treat the following areas: forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet, frown lines (glabella), bunny lines on the side if the nose, corners of the mouth (lip depressors), eyebrows (brow lift), and neck bands. Some of these areas are considered an “off label” use of Botox. Botox can be also used for excessive sweating of the arm bits called hyperhidrosis.

Botox is immensely versatile and can be used for smoothing and lifting skin, reducing wrinkles, and giving a more youthful appearance. Botox is an effective treatment for reducing crow’s feet, minimizing lines in the forehead and around the mouth, promoting a temporary brow lift or lip lift, and softening dimpling of the chin.
The Botox injection procedure is simple and non-surgical. It takes just minutes, with results gradually taking place over the following seven to ten days, and lasting up to four months. When Botox is properly injected by a trained medical professional, the process is safe and virtually painless, and the side effects are extremely rare.

Botox has also shown to be highly effective in the treatment of excessive sweating, or hyperhidrosis.
A condition that affects more than a million people in the U.S., people with this condition sweat up to four times more than normal in order to maintain their normal body temperature. Treating this socially hindering condition with Botox will reduce sweating under the arms significantly and in many cases perspiration is reduced up to 90%. During the procedure, a very fine needle is used to inject tiny amounts of Botox just under the skin intermittently throughout the area of excessive sweating (in a grid pattern, approximately every one to two centimeters.) Multiple injections are given based on Dr. Hansen’s, or one of the licensed professionals under the supervision of Dr. Hansen, assessment of the area that needs to be treated.

Frequently Asked Botox Questions
What areas can Botox be injected in?
Who can inject Botox?
In South Dakota and Iowa, Botox may be injected by physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and registered nurses under the supervision of a physician. In some states, aestheticians can inject Botox. At Lazaderm, we feel that is not appropriate as they have had little to no training on the facial anatomy.
How much does Botox Cost?
At Lazaderm, we price Botox by the “unit”. Each unit of Botox is $12. The number of units used per area can vary for individuals. Botox typically runs between $180 to $300 per area. This could be higher for men or women with stronger facial muscles.
How long does it take to see the effects of Botox?
It typically takes 24 to 72 hours to start seeing the effects of Botox. Botox will take approximately seven to ten days to reach maximum efficacy. We ask our patients to wait two weeks to see the full effect.
How long does Botox last?
The duration of Botox will vary from patient to patient. Typically, Botox will last about four months once a patient has had consistent treatments. At Lazaderm, we tell our patients that the first treatment with Botox will last about two and a half months, the second time about three months, and after that every three and a half to four and a half months. We recommend that you stay up on your injections for the best results at eliminating wrinkles.
How do I avoid side effects after Botox?
The best way to avoid side effects of Botox is by making sure that the person doing your injections is a licensed health professional. Icing the area before and after injections may decrease the risk of bruising. Some studies show that the use of arnica prior to injections may also be beneficial at decreasing the risk of bruising. We also ask that you refrain from certain activities after Botox injections. Some medications may also increase your risk of bruising: aspirin, blood thinners, and some herbal supplements. Do NOT stop these if they are prescriptions without first consulting your physician.
Can you exercise after Botox treatment?
We advise that you refrain from exercising at least six hours post injections. We also ask that you do not massage the injection area to help avoid the medication from spreading further than expected.
What are the possible side effects from Botox?
Botox injections may cause slight bruising, headache, pain at the injection site, injection site skin irritation, eyelid swelling, eyelid drooping, nausea and flu like symptoms.
It is OK to use Botox during pregnancy?
The use of Botox during pregnancy or breast feeding has not been studied. Therefore, we recommend that you do not receive Botox if you are pregnant or breast feeding.
