Hair grows in cycles, and the laser only treats follicles that are actively growing hair. A full plan at our Watertown clinic includes several sessions spaced a few weeks apart, each catching a new batch of follicles until the hair that’s left is sparse and fine. Shave the area the day before, and skip waxing and plucking for four weeks before the first session and in between sessions.

You’ll feel quick, warm snaps as the laser device works, with discomfort reduced by a cooling tip. Some areas are more sensitive than others. You can go back to your day without recovery time, though some redness is normal.

Keep your skin out of the sun as it heals, and avoid hot temperatures like saunas or hot showers for a couple of days. Hair may get longer at first as it works its way out before shedding. After each round, you’ll have less hair until the area is smooth and hair-free.
Fall and winter are great seasons for starting laser hair removal. A full series takes about three months, and skin heals best when it stays out of the sun, which makes the colder months a good time to start so you can have smooth, hair-free skin by summer. That said, we can start laser hair removal sessions any time of the year.
Our Watertown clinic tailors laser hair removal to your individual skin and hair, so we can treat a wide range of complexions. That said, the laser needs pigment to find the follicle, so very blond, red, white, or gray hair won’t respond well. We’ll walk through all of this with you at your consultation.
Shave the area the day before your visit, and avoid waxing, plucking, or threading for about four weeks ahead of time so the follicle still has hair. Avoid sun exposure and self-tanner beforehand, and skip any products that increase sensitivity to light or cause skin irritation. Your provider will go over anything specific to your treatment area when you book.
Our Watertown clinic welcomes patients from across the region.
