What is the BBL®?

By effectively applying Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) heat directly through the underlying layer of the skin’s surface, the BBL® is able to penetrate those deeper cells and stimulate the production of collagen, promoting your skin’s own natural rejuvenation process. The photothermal energy from the BBL® will also eliminate fine vessels that cause redness and reduce uneven pigmentation and discoloration. The pigmented areas will darken at first, gradually fading and lightening as healing occurs. The complexion is rejuvenated – appearing even with improved color and luminosity.

Your skin will continue its restoration in the following weeks, revealing vibrant, smoother, and younger-looking skin. When both red and brown pigments are present in the skin, a combination of BBL® treatments may be used to correct both color inconsistencies for exceptional overall clarity.

Frequently Asked Questions About Lazaderm Treatments

Is BBL® a laser treatment?

No, BBL® is not a laser treatment. Instead of lasers, it uses Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to heat the inner layers of the skin to kickstart collagen production.

BBL® and HALO® skin treatments differ based on the type of light they use to penetrate the skin and the intended results. BBL® uses intense pulsed light to heat deep within the skin, causing it to begin its own rejuvenation process, resulting in lighter, rejuvenated skin. As for HALO®, this technology uses fractional lasers to penetrate the skin, focusing on one area at a time, resulting in revitalized skin with color improvements and reduced fine lines and wrinkles. When choosing HALO® vs. BBL®, consider their differences and talk with the experienced staff at Lazaderm® to determine whether light or laser treatment is right for you.

After the BBL® procedure, you may experience some redness that should resolve within a few hours. In most cases, you can apply makeup and resume activities immediately after. Consult our clinician if your redness persists and for more information on what to expect with your BBL® recovery.

Within 3 to 5 days, the dark spots will rise to the surface of the skin and have the appearance of “coffee grounds” that will naturally slough off. Your skin will continue its restoration in the weeks to follow, revealing vibrant, smoother, and younger-looking skin.
