Don’t

Rub the Injection Site:  You may feel some discomfort in this area, or you just may be curious about whether your skin will feel any different.  It’s best to avoid irritation of the injection site because this skin needs to heal. You also risk moving the Botox to unintended muscles. You may clean the area with soap and water for at least six hours prior to your treatment.

Do

Use an ice pack: You can ice before and after Botox to help reduce bruising in the injected area.

Don’t

Excessively Drink: It is best to avoid alcohol a few days before your treatment and avoid drinking excessively after your Botox treatment. Drinking alcohol will thin your blood and can make your body more susceptible to bruising from the treatment.

Do

Treat the Bruise: If you do bruise from your Botox treatment, use Arnica tablets a week before to help it heal.  Green or Yellow concealers also help cover up the bruises.

Don’t

Work Out: The product needs to settle into your body, and giving it about 24 hours is enough to make sure that you won’t change your results by moving too much. Even strenuous activity should be avoided.

Do

Ask Questions: If there is anything you are concerned about, or if you have specific results that you would like to see, be sure to discuss these things with your doctor.  Our professionals pride themselves in their ability to give our patients the results they are looking for, whether it is a subtle look or a big change.

Don’t

Take Medication That Can Thin Out Blood: Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Excedrin and other medications that thin your blood can make you more susceptible to bruising.

Ultimately, a botox treatment is the perfect excuse to slow down and take a moment for yourself!
