What is the Erbium Resurfacing Laser?

Erbium laser resurfacing is a procedure that helps remove lines and wrinkles from the face. This offers a dramatic improvement in the appearance of the skin. The process entails ablating, or removing, the outermost layer of the skin, revealing smoother, younger-looking skin beneath.

The procedure also promotes further collagen production and tightening of the skin which will continue for months following treatment.

About The Procedure

The length of the Erbium laser procedure varies from 15 minutes to slightly over an hour, depending on the individual’s needs. A local anesthetic may be used for patient comfort. Healing is more rapid than with other methods of laser resurfacing because less of the surrounding tissue is affected. After several weeks, the pinkness of the exposed skin will lighten to reveal the normal tone, yet with a softer, smoother, and younger appearance.

I am into week two of an Erbium laser resurfacing performed by Dr. B at Lazaderm. Any woman deciding on a procedure for her face raises the anxiety level and doubt to another level.
