Endovenous Laser Ablation

Endovenous Laser Ablation, or EVLA, is a minimally invasive method for treating varicose veins of the leg using laser energy to shrink and seal the veins shut. If you are looking for an innovative solution to the elimination of varicose veins without surgery or downtime, Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA) may be the solution for you.

What is Endovenous Laser Ablation?

The Endovenous Laser Ablation procedure begins with the infiltration of local anesthetic, a thin fiber-optic probe is guided by ultrasound through the abnormal vein. The heat from the laser is delivered to the varicose vein. This treats and eliminates the walls of the vein and causing the body to naturally absorb the tissue. Once the vein is closed, the remaining blood flow is rerouted to normal healthy veins. Returning it to the heart and lungs. The EVLA procedure is an outpatient procedure done in our clinic under local anesthesia. There is no downtime and you can return to your normal, daily activity the same day.

About The Procedure

The EVLA procedure will take an average of 60 minutes or less. You can then return to your usual activities with minimal discomfort. You may feel a slight “pulling” sensation along the treated vein for a few days. For best results, we do recommend wearing compression stockings during the day for the first 2 weeks following treatment. This non-invasive laser procedure has over a 99% success rate with very rare cases of reoccurrence.
