Aesthetic procedures are some of the most popular cosmetic procedures performed today and have a wide variety of benefits including overall skin rejuvenation as well as a reduction in the appearance of sun damage, fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, redness, and pigmentation issues. These minimally invasive cosmetic procedures are cost-effective, convenient, and safe. These treatments work by removing the damaged, outer layers of skin, stimulating the production of collagen and new skin cells in the underlying layers, and promoting smoother, younger, healthier-looking skin.

Frequently Asked Aesthetics Questions

How many Fotofacials or Broad Band Light (BBL) treatments are required to see results?

Although most patients see a significant improvement in visible sun damage, age spots and facial redness in a single BBL treatment. At Lazaderm we find our patients achieve the best results and are most satisfied with a series of 3 treatments 2-4 weeks apart. A series of BBL treatments allows us to understand our patients’ areas of concern, and the opportunity to work to improve those concerns more with each treatment. A patient may get 50% improvement with 1 treatment but 95%-100% improvement with 3 treatments!

Can I combine a glycolic acid peel with Isotretinoin and Retin-A cream?

I would not combine Isotretinoin (Accutane) with Retin-A or glycolic acid peels. Accutane by itself will help diminish acne for 6 months after you stop taking the oral medication. Accutane makes the skin very fragile, dry and sensitive so if you use a low dose Retin-A or glycolic acid while on Accutane you can irritate and even damage your skin. You must be off Isotretinoin (Accutane) for at least 6 months to a year before you even consider having a chemical peel.

What are the Vitalize Peel Side effects and results I can expect?

Chemical peels help improve the skin by causing a chemical peeling to help accelerate skin exfoliation by the use of chemical substances resulting in renewed, healthier-looking skin and a more uniform complexion. The Vitalize Peel combines resorcinol, lactic, salicylic, and retinoic acid to offer dramatic improvement in the texture and tone of the skin. The renewal process stimulates collagen production, a smoother more radiant appearance to the skin, improvement in wrinkles/fine lines and hyperpigmentation. The side effects of a Vitalize peel are peeling and flaking for 3 to 5 days, sun sensitivity, burning sensation, and some skin redness.

How is the VI Peel Different from Other Peels?

The VI Peel is a relatively painless chemical peel but will cause significant peeling. The VI peel consists of trichloroacetic acid (TCA), Retin-A, salicylic acid, phenol and vitamin C. This peel will help smooth out wrinkles, improve pigmentation, make dull skin glow and help with the rough texture. The ingredients that are in the VI peel such as Retin-A will help combat wrinkles, TCA acid will help with fine lines and …surface blemishes, salicylic acid is an exfoliant and also an anti-inflammatory, vitamin C will stimulate collagen and will make the skin glow and phenol will show huge improvement with deep-set wrinkles. . The combination of these ingredients make this peel very different from other chemical peels on the market. Other chemical peels are less aggressive and there will be less peeling. The VI Peel combines some of the top ingredients to help fight all signs of aging with minimal downtime. At LazaDerm, we offer multiple chemical peels that can be tailored to your needs including the VI peel.

What are the benefits of Peels?

Chemical and Micro Laser peels can enhance the appearance of your skin. Chemical peels are beneficial for exfoliating the skin via a topical chemical solution that can be applied to the face, neck or hands. The chemical peel acts as a sloughing agent, creating a “peeling” effect on the skin. This allows the skin to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, enhance the texture, reduce visible acne scarring, pigment reduction, as well as reverse the effects of sun damage. Chemical peels are highly effective because they can be applied to the skin at various strengths, depending on the severity of the damage. Many patients enjoy the chemical peel because it is a process where the residual effects can be seen on a daily basis until all of the old skin has peeled off the treated area. Typically, two weeks is sufficient time for the skin to peel. Men and women alike can benefit from chemical and MicroLaser peels. In a matter of one to a few peels, clients can be on their way to a fresh and youthful appearance.
