Microderms are highly effective at treating light scarring, discoloration, sun damage, and stretch marks when done on a regular basis.

Microdermabrasion can:

  • Improve age spots and blackheads
  • Improve hyperpigmentation (patches of darkened skin)
  • Exfoliate your skin, resulting in a refreshed appearance
  • Lessen the appearance of stretch marks
  • Reduce fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduce or eliminate enlarged pores
  • Treat acne and the scars left by acne

At Lazaderm, we use natural baking soda crystals that are less invasive on the skin than other more irritating and abrasive crystals more commonly used. For those desiring a more aggressive treatment, our trained aesthetician will use a diamond tip wand that penetrates deeper into the epidermis.

Frequently Asked Microdermabrasion Questions
Microdermabrasion is one of the most natural way to exfoliate the skin without the use of harsh chemicals. The process works by using very fine crystals (or diamond tips) to remove the upper layer of the skin. This exfoliation will help the production/turn-over rate of new skin, resulting in a firmer, more youthful looking skin.
Anyone who has had acne, discolorations, light lines and wrinkles, uneven texture or sun damaged skin are all perfect patients for microdermabrasion. Microdermabrasion cannot remove deep scars or wrinkles, birthmarks or tattoos.
Microdermabrasion is very safe, as it does use any chemicals or laser resurfacing, which often call for downtime. At Lazaderm, we use only diamond tips or sodium bicarbonate crystals. Sodium bicarbonate is the same thing as baking soda. The sodium bicarbonate crystals are specially formulated for the use in microdermabrasion, so no, you cannot use Arm and Hammer baking soda for microdermabrasion.
Sodium bicarbonate, otherwise known as baking soda, is used as it gives you no redness, no irritation, no harmful side effects, and is the safest way to treat both the lips and the entire eye area. Other products used for microdermabrasion may have some increased inflammatory response.
There is no downtime associated with microdermabrasion. You can go about your daily activities and apply makeup post treatment. After the treatment, your skin will be a little red but this will resolve very quickly. You may apply make-up and sunblock immediately after the treatment. Many patients will return to work after the treatment.
It takes approximately half an hour for a microdermabrasion procedure, with additional time needed for additional areas.
