Microneedling

Microneedling involves using fine needles to create hundreds of tiny, invisible puncture wounds in the top layer of skin. The treatment is minimally invasive that is virtually painless and incredibly effective. The primary appeal of microneedling is its ability to stimulate the growth of collagen and elastin. This is the key to new, youthful-looking skin. The microneedles stimulate the body’s natural wound healing processes, resulting in cell turnover and increased collagen and elastin production. This reverses as well as prevents signs of aging.

Medical microneedling is safe on all skin types. Microneedling does not cause post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation in patients with darker skin tones including those of African ancestry.

How many microneedling treatments do I need?

This will be somewhat variable. We recommend a minimum of three treatments spaced four to six weeks apart. Acne scarring, scarring and stretch marks will require more treatments. Many patients complete a treatment every three months to maintain their results.

Will microneedling help with hair loss?

Yes, there are multiple studies that show the benefits of medical microneedling patients with hair loss. This both true of men and women. Studies show increased release of multiple growth factors, activation of stem cells and increased expression of hair growth-related genes. Microneedling will usually be recommended as part of an overall hair restoration program.
