Endovenous Laser Ablation
The Endovenous Laser Ablation procedure begins with the infiltration of local anesthetic, a thin fiber optic probe is guided by ultrasound through the abnormal vein. Heat from the laser is delivered to the varicose vein, treating and eliminating the walls of the vein and causing the body to naturally absorb the tissue. Once the vein is closed, the remaining blood flow is rerouted to normal, healthy veins where it returns to the heart and lungs. The EVLA procedure is an outpatient procedure done in our clinic under local anesthesia. There is no down time and you can return to your normal, daily activity the same day.
The EVLA procedure will take an average of 60 minutes or less. You can then return to your usual activities withminimal discomfort. You may feel a slight “pulling” sensation along the treated vein for a few days. For best results, we do recommend wearing compression stockings during the day for the first 2 weeks following treatment. This non-invasive laser procedure has over a 99% success rate with very rare cases of reoccurrence.
If you are looking for an innovative solution to the elimination of varicose veins without surgery or downtime, Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA) may be the solution for you.
