Are you tired of shaving, tweezing or waxing the hair on your body? If so, laser hair removal could be for you. On average women spend 72 days of their life shaving. That equals 1,728 hours! You could get these hours back by getting laser hair removal. It is one of the most effective treatments available for reducing and preventing hair growth on all areas of the body.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

The laser removes the hair by targeting the pigment in the hair. The laser energy is absorbed by the hair and transfers the energy to the hair bulb. The hair bulb is then destroyed permanently.

Although you will see results after 1 treatment, on average patients need 5-7 laser hair removal treatments to get the hair into a state of “remission.” This is because hair goes through different growth cycles and the most effective phase for laser treatments is during the new-growth stage. Patients see a 30-50% reduction in hair after the first treatment, improving with each subsequent treatment. Any hair that does return comes back finer and lighter.

The laser responds best to dark, coarse and thick hair. Light blonde, gray or white hair typically does not respond as well to laser treatment. Other factors in how your hair responds to the laser are genetics, hormones and ethnicities. Patients taking certain medications with certain medical conditions and ethnicities may need treatment throughout their life.

How Long is the Process?

Since the laser can treat multiple hair follicles with each pulse, smaller treatment areas such as the upper lip can take as little as five minutes. Whereas larger areas, such as full legs or back will take longer, 20 or 30 minutes.

Most patients experience minimal discomfort during treatment. Patients have compared the feeling from lasers to a rubber band snapping their skin. Each of our lasers have cooling in the hand-pieces that decrease the sensation of each laser pulse.
